Fieldwork

In a voluntary capacity, Àdhamh has been working with Dòrlach for the last decade to attempt an 11th hour salvage of Scotland’s perishing Gaelic dialects, a cause to which you can donate here.

Collaborative work between Dòrlach and the Universities of Nevada and Arizona has been ongoing for several years as they seek to visit the last remaining fluent Gaelic speakers of the Scottish mainland and lesser-visited islands in order to record their memories, culture and thoughts on life, lore and language.

Above is Àdhamh in conversation with Donnchadh MacFhearghais of Cleadale, Isle of Eigg.

Àdhamh has also been working on the revival of his own Gáilig Dhail Riada, the dialect of Craignish, Lochaweside, Kilmartin, Kilmicheal, Knapdale, Lochfyneside, Cowal (where he grew up) and Bute. You can find out more and get involved by clicking the link above and by visiting www.dalriada.scot.
